Fantasy of Trees Friday

Fridays after Thanksgiving we go to Fantasy of Trees with my family. It is a Christmas thing downtown that benefits the Childrens Hospital. It is one of my favorite days of the year and kicks off the holiday season.

Miller all dressed up to see Santa. Trying to make a good first impression.

Santa loved him and he slept right through it. So glad to not have one of those screaming kids but mom assured me that will be next year.

We always decorate cookies and Miller "helped" this year.

Ben always gets his face painted.

They have ornaments that you decorate with your thumbprint. I have one for the last 24 years. Here we are doing Miller's first.

And finally we rode the carousel.....kind of.

That night we decided to go to tree lighting downtown with my mom, aunt Tine, uncle Bob, cousin Ally, aunt Jennifer, uncle Mark, cousins Natalie and Bridget, and Ben's friend Daniel and his fiancee Lisa.

This is not for Fantasy of Trees but I wanted to share them. Miller went out with Ben and his family on Saturday so mommy could get ready by herself for the big Baptism and birthday party that day (post to follow soon).

On Sunday we went to brunch with Ben's family. This is Daniel, Ben's best friend, and his fiancee Lisa.

The whole gang (and the waitress took a blurry pic).

Annemarie loves her cousin Miller.

We went to my grandparents house and look how cute Miller is and Pappaw holding his hands.

Thanksgiving

I know I am a few days late but hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I wanted to post a few pictures from Millers first Thanksgiving.

We start the day off by visiting my mom, who normally works the holiday.

Then we head over to my dads house. We went outside to get a few pictures and Miller got a little fussy. This is his frowny face, which I LOVE!

We need a family picture for every event.

Miller's outfit said "I'm Stuffed" on the front, "Gobble, Gobble" on his feet and a turkey butt. I hate he can only wear it this day. I hope we have another baby that will fit into it in the future.

Miller with my Mammaw and Pappaw.

All the dogs banned from the house while we ate.

Jake waiting for leftovers.

We were pooped so we took a nice nap.

It was a great day because we have so much to be thankful for this year. We have been blessed with so much between our family, friends and amazing little boy. We hope you had a great holiday!

Suprise in Knoxville

After my mom left weeks ago, I was super sad. We decided to meet my mom in Chattanooga two weeks later so we could see each other. I got used to the house being quieter and it just being Miller and I, but then the fussiness started. Miller is a good kid but just going through a fussy phase and I am going bonkers. As it got closer to that weekend I started mentioning going back with her. Ben would miss us but I knew he would appreciate the quietness and being able to work as late as he wanted to. So last weekend, we meet up and Miller and I came back to Tennessee with mom. We did not tell anyone and ended up surprising them. It was fun!

Miller surprised my grandma and grandpa. Here he is napping in the living room.

Miller with his Grandpa Norm

Miller with his Poppi. Dad got that chair to rock his grandbaby in and here he is.

My Pappaw with Mr Miller

Dad and his baby, and Miller

Being fed a bottle by his Aunt Lindsey. He looks like a baby bird.

I love that I caught a good smile. You can see he has developed a little chunk.

I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving. I am sure I will have some posts about our upcoming weekend soon.

It will feature content all across the board including baking, decorating, crafting, parenting and other subjects that we deal with in day to day life. I would love if you would follow it. Please let me know (you can comment here, email, tell me in person, whatever) about any subjects that you would like to see featured there. Thanks!!!

Miller: Month One

My little monkey is a month old. I know we still have a long road ahead of us but I still can not believe how fast that went by. I am not sure how I want to do this but I do plan on doing a monthly update on him. I think I will be forming it like I did my weekly pregnancy updates.

Weight: 10lbs 13 oz (up 2lbs 11 oz from birth)

Height: When we get him stretched out it appears he is still the same- 21.5in

Sleep: Minus a few nights, he sleeps a few long stretches at night so I get mostly a full nights sleep.

Eating: Breastfeeding is going pretty well. I apparently have an over supply and choke him which is causing some issues recently. While he is nursing he pulls off so he can swallow, and gets fussy which causes him to swallow air. That in turn gives him gas, which makes him super fussy, angry and just wanting to be comforted and held. I am having a struggle with wanting to put him down and not get spoiled being held, but wanting him to be comforted and happy.

Best Moment: He is starting to smile. As I mentioned above, he is really fussy but for the hour or two a day he is happy, he smiles and talks and it is so sweet.

Milestones: He smiles and recognizes certain voices and faces.

Weekly Wisdom: This is just a phase and will pass. (Also, that my baby does not hate me as I keep insisting.)

Let me know if you can think of any other questions that I should be answering in these updates.

Newborn Pics Preview

We had newborn pictures taken 2 weeks ago. Katie B, our photographer, was able to get me a few so I could use them for a couple things. I figured I would share them since it will be another month before we get back the rest. Enjoy!

Before you question the tie dye, you can go back to our vacation post and see that it is now a thing in our family.

Miller Week 3

I still feel like every Monday I should have a new post with my weekly update. I really have very little to update.

Miller is getting bigger and still a good baby. He is normally pretty content until he wants something and then he is a screamer. He normally sleeps two long stretches at night so I get a decent amount of sleep. However, our days are crazy and because of that, some nights I never know when he is actually down for the night and we have to wake him to put on his jammies. Just last night we started a night time routine to try to get some normalcy day to day, and so far he slept great last night and was less fussy today. We will see if that was just a fluke or a routine really helps.

Here are a few pictures from this week.

So not happy about me taking his picture. I know it is mean, but his frowny face is so cute.

He has pretty good neck control so we figured we would give the Bumbo a try. He did pretty good until he realized we were not holding him and then he wanted out.

Asleep in his daddy. Yep, our game was that boring.

This is how Ben and Miller spend most evenings.

On a walk with mom today.

First Halloween

I know that it is a day late but some of these pictures were not taken until later last night. We had a very busy Halloween weekend, which was great. My mom left last week which made Miller and I very sad so it was good to have stuff to look forward to.

Saturday we went to the cornmaze and pumpkin patch with Heather and Isla. We thought it was silly to take two cars for the 5 of us, so we squeezed both babies in the back seat with Heather. They both fell asleep on the way there and it was so cute!

Ben wore Miller in one of our carriers and he slept the whole time.

Trying to find our way through. We did get a little lost but managed to get through in 51 minutes. In our defense, we had to stop a few times to re situate the babies and I was pushing a stroller down dirt paths.

My pumpkin and I in the pumpkin patch.

On Saturday night, we went to Lindsey and Lance's for a Halloween party. He was just so cute in his glow in the dark skeleton jammies and pumpkin hat.

Sunday, we got to visit with my cousin Megan and her husband Frank. They are not really baby people (yet) but look how natural Uncle Frank looks here with Miller.

Aunt Megan, not as much but she will get there. We loved seeing them! We miss them so much since they love in Arizona but hope to see them more soon.

That night, Ben was soothing Miller so I could get some stuff done. Miller got a little confused and tried to latch onto Ben's nose.

While, we did not go trick or treating, I still made Miller a costume months ago. The hat was a bit small and the rest was a bit big but he still looked super cute. The funny thing is that I cannot stand candy corn but I would eat this one.

Last night with his pumpkin.

I hope everyone had a great Halloween! Ben is looking forward to next year when he has someone to take trick-or-treating to get him candy.
